Pielow's Shiraz 2008 Made for us from grapes from Tulbagh Valley at Manley’s private Cellar. Tasting Notes: Deep intense red colour. Complex Smokey, red berry aromas with hints of oak. Palate enters with berry fruits supported by layers of vanilla. Well-rounded tannins have a firm mouth feel and lends this wine great ageing potential
March 2005 The garden of Honey Oaks; the proposed vineyard, prior to planting.
February 2006 Preparations for the planting of Shiraz vines. The soil is tested for the pH levels. The soil is turned and corn is planted to protect the young vines. A borehole is drilled for irrigation. August 2006 Shiraz vines are planted.
October 2008 First growth of vines after a long winter lying dormant.
February 2007 The vines after 6 months growth.
December 2008 Fertilised flowers set and form berries.
November 2008 Flowering in the next 2 weeks.
Late December 2008 Berries start to swell.
February 2009 Grapes ready for harvest.
6am 25th of February 2009 Family & friends from SA & Ireland help in the picking of the first harvest of our Honey Oak Shiraz. The grapes are hands picked in the cool early morning.

Lug boxes are used to collect and transfer the grapes to the Cellar. Each lug box contains 20 kg of grapes. Each bottle of wine contains 1.2 kg.

Early morning 26th of February grapes are sorted by hand to remove underdeveloped or damaged grapes.
Pielow’s premium harvest shiraz 2006. Keen to produce their own wine, they bought 4 tons of premium shiraz grapes from the Tulbagh valley and with a local award winning winemaker, David Jordan from Manley’s private cellar they now have produced their first Pielow’s Shiraz.
Conveyor belt transfers the grapes to the crusher where they are gently crushed and dropped into stainless steel fermentation tanks to begin the wine making process.
Our first Honey Oak Shiraz is maturing in Oak Barrels; we patiently await the release of our first wine in the summer of 2010.
